ZOA-Israel Organizes Passover Tour Of Samaria To Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of Pioneering Community

The Zionist Organization of America, in cooperation with the Samaria Liaison Office, is organizing a Passover tour of Samarian Biblical and strategic sites on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the premier pioneering community, Elon Moreh, on Sunday, April 12th.

ZOA-Israel has already conducted a number of tours and is planning similar tours on a regular basis in order to educate Israelis, visitors, leadership and media about the strategic importance of these sites, as well as their historical and Jewish cultural significance.

ZOA’s Israel Office Director, Jeff Daube, stated that “until you have an opportunity to see with your own eyes how close these communities are to Ben Gurion Airport, the skyscrapers of Tel Aviv and 70% of Israel’s population and industrial base, you cannot appreciate how much of an existential threat withdrawal from these areas would constitute to Israel’s vital center.”

Thousands of visitors and residents of Samaria are expected to come to Elon Moreh to honor the brave Zionist pioneers whose vision and intense dedication 30 years ago resulted in the many vibrant and diverse communities seen today.

In addition to various events at Elon Moreh, the tour will include:

§     A visit to Sebastia, the ancient capital of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the site where Gush Emunim started the settlement movement after the Six Day War.

§     A trip to Havat Gilad and/or Givot Olam to meet local leaders and learn about the young pioneers of new hilltop communities.

§     An overview Biblical Shechem and Joseph‘s Tomb from Mitzpeh Yosef on Mount Grizim.

  • Taste wines produced from the most exquisite grapes grown on the hills of the Shomron at Tora winery in Rechelim.

Reservations should be made before 12 noon, April 8th. Since seating is limited reservations will be honored on a first come, first served basis. Registration fee does not include lunch. (Refreshments will be available at the Elon Moreh picnic grounds.)

Price: NIS 80/person (20% discount for senior citizens, soldiers, students and ZOA members)

This tour will be conducted in English and will begin in Jerusalem at the Inbal Hotel at 8:30AM.
